Intro to ASL

This class is for the beginner who is brand new to ASL - Students must purchase the book called “Barron’s American Sign Language, A Comprehensive Guide to ASL 1 and 2 by David A. Stewart.


Intermediate ASL - Classifiers

This class is for students who know ASL well and need to practice more with ASL classifiers. Students will learn about the different kinds of hand shape classifiers associated with an object’s size and shape, depth, texture, movement and location. The basic rule for classifiers will be reinforced by learning which are appropriate and inappropriate for storytelling or conversation.. Students need to purchase Barron’s Book and select one children’s (age 0-3) book to practice ASL Storytelling.

After you register, you will receive an email confirming your registration and providing the Zoom link for the class.

Are you a parent of a deaf or hard of hearing young preschooler or kindergartener, interested in learning ASL to communicate more effectively? Join this virtual 6-week class with an experienced teacher.

You must register for the class. After registering, you will receive a confirmation email containing information about joining the meeting.

This interactive class will cover topics such as food signs, routine signs, colors, numbers 0-20, common greetings and phrases, rooms and commonly used items in the home, places in the community, community helpers, family signs and topics of interest of the participants. The instructor will share strategies on how to appropriately get the attention and strategies to make communication more successful.

*This class is limited to and free of charge to parents of a deaf or hard of hearing child. Please sign up as soon as possible as class size is limited.
