Maryland Governor Honors Kelby Brick
From the Arbutus Times, 3/15/11
During the 10th Anniversary of the Governor's Office of the Deaf and Hard of Hearing, which Catonsville resident Kelby Brick played an integral role in developing, he received a proclamation Feb. 21 from Gov. Martin O'Malley honoring a commitment to improving civil rights of people with hearing loss.
The inaugural "Kelby Brick Community Leadership Award" will be given annually in his name.
Brick says the honor of having an award named after him is astounding, and something he will take pride in, along with his coaching youth basketball and baseball.
He is an attorney and vice president of regulatory and strategic policy for Purple Communication, and is in charge of tearing down barriers for deaf and hard of hearing individuals.
Purple Communications provides Video Relay Services, Text Relay Services, Captioned Telephone Services and TTY relay services.
