The Endependence Center of Northern Virginia (ECNV) has received the following alert and invitation to the disability community to participate in the 50th anniversary of the March on Washington and commemoration of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.’s “I Have A Dream” Speech. Noted below are the details about the rally and march as well as arrangements for shuttle buses and seating for persons with disabilities. We are told that SIGN LANGUAGE INTERPRETERS and close seating is available. There will be accessible restroom facilities and chairs for those who are unable to stand.

RALLY AT THE LINCOLN MEMORIAL BEGINS AT 10 A.M.
FOLLOWED BY A MARCH TO THE MARTIN LUTHER KING MEMORIAL
. The event will be hosted by the King children, the remaining four of the original six organizing organizations and the last living organizer, Congressman John Lewis: the only one of the six leaders of the March on Washington of 1963 who is still alive.
. Among the speakers and groups are Rev. Al Sharpton, Martin Luther King, III, the families of Trayvon Martin and Emmett Till, Congressman John Lewis, Nancy Pelosi, House Democratic Leader, Democratic Whip Steny Hoyer and many others.
. There will be reserved seating in front of the Lincoln Memorial for people with disabilities and their supporters. Sign language interpreters will be provided and accessible restroom facilities will be available.
. There will be free, accessible shuttle bus service from the Foggy Bottom Metro Station to the Lincoln Memorial, and from the MLK Memorial back to Foggy Bottom. The bus service will begin at 8:30 A.M.
