Religious Interpreting Professional Development Conference

updated 10/30/2013

The DC Chapter of the National Alliance of Black Interpreters is hosting our second annual religious interpreting professional development conference, entitled 'Preaching to the Choir'.  The conference will host anywhere from 150-200 registrants from all over the DC, MD, and VA metropolitan area. Religious entities and organizations of all kinds will convene on the campus of Gallaudet, November 8th and 9th.

A plethora of workshops are offered to four distinct target audiences:

1. Advanced Interpreters
2. Novice Interpreters
3. Deaf Congregants
4. Religious Leaders

Amongst the presenters are nationally renowned and published leaders in the field, NAD (teaching an ADA workshop), and GURIEC (teaching 'Discover Interpreting' for Novice Interpreters).  With all workshops occurring on Saturday, November 9, 2013, each workshop is scheduled for two hours.  Any participant will be able to register for up to four workshops, and receive up to .8 CEU's.

Friday night's kickoff ceremony is free to all, and will include a social extravaganza immediately afterwards.  Full registration includes: Friday night's opening ceremony, Saturday's workshops, a Bazaar (Vendor Fair), and a Saturday evening Showcase featuring the hottest Deaf choirs throughout the DMV!
