|Gallaudet's Camp SHARP for preschool children will be in full swing soon. The camp allows children who are deaf or hard of hearing to work on their spoken language skills in a fun, play-based environment.
There are currently a few spots open in the first program (June 20-July 1), and one opening in the second program (July 6-29). While both programs focus on supporting the children's spoken language skills, the first program is for children who do not have full access to speech sounds and who benefit from instruction in ASL. The second program is for children who have access to most/all speech sounds, and less sign language support/instruction occurs during this session. Also, children who expressively use both English and ASL (i.e. bilingual), attend both programs.
